Master’s: Crucial marketing-at-retail education
Shop! welcomes Robertson AS DIRECTOR OF EVENTS
Matthew J. Robertson joined Shop! as director of events on May 23. Based in Chicago,
he leads the events team in managing well over a dozen association events, including
Shoptalk, Retail Design Collective, East and West Coast POP-Up Galleries, OMA and
Design Awards, and all association-managed events during GlobalShop.
Robertson comes to the association from the Lake County Fair Association, where
as general manager he was responsible for sales, marketing, and operations at the
65,000-sq.-ft. exhibit hall and facility. He directed the planning and execution of
a wide variety of events, including the Annual Lake County Fair, a five-day festival
attended by more than 100,000 guests.
Prior to working for the Lake County Fair Association, Robertson was VP of
operations for River West Meeting Associates, a communications agency specializing
in corporate events.
“Matthew brings a strategic and managerial skill set that will help define the future
of our events and positively impact our association,” says Shop! CEO Steven Weiss.
New award category added at WEST COAST POP-UP GALLERY
Formerly known as the West Coast POP Show, the POP-Up Gallery will be held
in San Francisco on Sept. 29. This event has been broadened to include an award
category that recognizes “innovative design or novel application of technology,
product, or fixture that enhances the retail experience.”
