2016 MERRIMAN ABOVE
& BEYOND AWARD FINALIST
For Superior Customer Service
merriman above & beyond
Great design won’t take a brand far without great customer service
to execute it. Both Design Fabrications (D|Fab) and Nashville Display
epitomized that service this year in meeting challenging customer needs. So both companies received the
2016 Merriman Above & Beyond Award.
Named in honor of former executive director Klein
Merriman, the award honors A.R.E. | POPAI members
for exceptional service. This marks the first year the
award has been given to more than one company.
“The service provided by both of these A.R.E. |
POPAI members was so far above and beyond the
norm that we felt compelled to award both companies,” said Elizabeth George, CMM, director of
membership development and engagement.
D|Fab won for exhaustive research and creative
design for a complex column wrap. Nominated
by Erica Ecker, director of visual merchandising for Orchard Supply
Hardware, D|Fab had also received a second nomination by Christine
Sturch, Midwest interior design and branding coordinator for Whole
Foods Market. While the store design and manufacturing firm has won
12 industry design awards since 2005, this is D|Fab’s first win
for this prestigious customer service award.
Nashville Display won for a short-turnaround rack
repair project for Nestle Purina in which the fixture
provider’s Jeremy Wong personally drove the rack
from Nashville to St. Louis to meet the deadline. This
was Nashville Display’s second consecutive win for
the Merriman Above & Beyond Award. The display
design and manufacturing company was nominated
this year by Jon Welker, manager of retail experience
for Nestle Purina.
Two finalists also were honored in the March 23 cere
mony: Holiday Image, nominated by Lord & Taylor’s
Roe Palermo, and JPMA Global, nominated by
Godiva’s Linda Lombardi.
