Shaking up the
2014 A.R.E. Design Awards
Entries are now being accepted
for the 2014 A.R.E. Design Awards.
Now in its 43rd year, the program
is the longest-running industry competition. With this
year’s retail mixology theme, judges are looking for
the perfect blend in 27 categories including grocery,
department, pop-up, and service retail, as well as specialty retail. Green retail projects can also be submitted for the A.R.E. Sustainability Award. Suppliers can
get recognized for unique innovations as well—A.R.E.’s
competition is the only one that recognizes individual
elements including store fixtures, visual presentations, flooring, in-store communications, lighting,
and wall treatments.
The judging will take place in January 2014; winning projects will be announced on the A.R.E. website in February 2014; and awards will be presented
during the A.R.E. Design Awards event at GlobalShop
in Las Vegas on March 18, 2014.
A.R.E. members qualify for significant discounts
on submissions and applicants submitting early
(by the December 13 early-bird deadline) qualify
for an entry discount. The final deadline for entries
is January 15, 2014.
More details and entry information are available
online at www.aredesignawards.com.
Planning for EuroShop
The countdown is on again. EuroShop,
held every three years, takes place
February 16 to 20, 2014, at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany. The
event is expected to draw 1,600 exhibitors from 50 countries and around 100,000 international attendees. EuroShop is subdivided into four
independent but complementary areas: EuroConcept
(shopfitting and equipment), EuroSales (visual merchandising and sales promotion), EuroCIS (
communications, information, security technology) and EuroExpo
(stand design and construction). Congresses and
forums will round out the trade fair offerings.
For North American attendees and exhibitors,
A.R.E. is once again co-sponsoring the North
American Reception with DDI magazine and Messe
Düsseldorf North America. The reception will take
place Monday, February 17 from 5: 30 to 7: 30 p.m.
in the International Lounge at the Exhibition Center.
The event is limited to 200 people and advance registration is required. Register by February 7 to attend

Has your supplier gone
“Above & Beyond”?
A.R.E.’s Above & Beyond Award was established in 2006 by the
association’s Retail Council to recognize supplier member companies that have exceeded customer expectations, and in some cases,
made the impossible possible. From the first rough sketches of a
new job until the last fixture is safely installed in the store, companies that receive this
award have accomplished manufacturing feats through commitment, determination,
and above-and-beyond customer service.
A.R.E. fixture and visual presentation supplier member companies are eligible
to be nominated for A.R.E.’s 2014 Above & Beyond Award by their retail customers.
Nomination forms are available at www.aredesignawards.com; for more details, contact
Karen Doodeman at 954-421-4833, email@example.com. Entries will
be accepted through January 15, 2014. Winners will be notified in February, and awards
will be presented during A.R.E.’s Design Awards March 18 in Las Vegas during GlobalShop.
Impressions Marketing Group received the 2013 Above and Beyond Award
