RICHARD ERNEST is president of Crown Metal Manufacturing Co., a position he has held since 1984. He began
his career at ICI Americas in Wilmington, Del. Fourteen
promotions and eight relocations later, he graduated to
sales manager of the company’s Petro Chemical division.
In 1981, he joined Crown Metal. He has been active in
A.R.E. for many years, serving on the board of directors
in the 1980s and as the association’s president from 1999
to 2002. He has also served as chair of A.R.E.’s Membership Development, General Management, and Insurance
Committees, and as a member of A.R. E.’s Financial
Committee and PAVE’s Board of Directors.
JOEL KATTERHAGEN is president of Synsor, a company that provides retail environments products including
in-store kiosks, fixtures, shopper marketing displays, and
interactive solutions, as well as retail strategy services and
design services, prototyping, fulfillment, and installation
management. Katterhagen joined the company in 2012
as executive vice president. Prior to joining Synsor, Katterhagen served as executive vice president of sales and
marketing for Leggett & Platt and held positions including
vice president and general manager at Hamilton Fixture
and Ross Display. Katterhagen is a member of A.R.E.’s
International Task Force and has served as a speaker at
A.R. E. events.
DAN SCHMIDT is president and CEO of The Combination Door Company. His firm specializes in the manufacturing of doors and door frames for fitting rooms, restaurants,
and other commercial applications. Schmidt is the fifth
generation to work for the family-owned business; his
great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather were both
founders of the company in 1912.
KEVIN HOGAN is president of Stylmark Inc. Stylmark
is a 59-year-old manufacturer with primary focus in the
retail fixture industry, specializing in metal components,
fixtures, and custom solutions. Hogan joined Stylmark
in 2008 as vice president of sales and marketing and
was named president in 2011. Hogan currently chairs
A. R.E.’s Marketing Committee.
BILL BENSON is president of Extrude-A-Trim Inc.,
a position he has held since 1995. He purchased the
company in 2000, and has grown the 50-year-old
Toronto-based organization into one of the largest
specialty aluminum extrusion suppliers in North America.
Benson has also leveraged the Extrude-A-Trim purchase
into a group of diverse companies that are involved in the
sporting goods, door hardware, and security industries.
MICHAEL CHILDS is president of High Country
Millwork, a manufacturer of store fixtures focusing primarily on the high-end specialty retail and luxury markets.
He had been general manager for High Country Furniture,
an architectural millwork firm established in 1970, before
forming a partnership and purchasing the company in
1998. He changed the company’s name to High Country
Millwork and shifted its direction from architectural
millwork to the store fixture and restaurant markets.
Childs has over 35 years of experience in the trade,
ranging from cabinetmaker to upper management,
and since acquiring HCM has tripled its manufacturing
facility and substantially grown the business.
BRUCE BARTELDT is a partner and national studio
principal, retail, of Little, where he leads all retail activity.
He is responsible for brand experience strategy and design,
branded graphics and program implementation services
focused on supermarkets, service retail (banking, health
care and automotive), fashion and specialty retail, home
improvement/furnishings, and mixed-use/marketplaces.
Barteldt is an internationally recognized speaker, writer,
and juror. He is a member of A.R.E.’s DREAM Team of
retail designers and has served as a speaker at A. R.E.
Projects Pte. Ltd.
SIMON ONG is group managing director and
co-founder of Kingsmen. Established in 1976, Kingsmen
is a communication design and production group with four
main business segments supported by its research and
design division: retail and corporate interiors, exhibitions
and events, thematic and museums, and alternative
marketing. Kingsmen has a regional network of 18 offices
and full-service facilities in Asia Pacific and the Middle
East. Ong serves as a member of A.R.E.’s International

BILL MCHENRY is president and CEO of Elevations
Inc., a company he founded in 1990. Based in South San
Francisco, Elevations Inc. is a design, manufacturing, and
import organization that specializes in visual merchandising displays and retail store fixtures. He has been active
in the industry for over 20 years and has served on NADI’s
Board of Directors and is an active member of the PAVE
board where he serves on the Fundraising/Endowment
DAVID DILLMEIER is president of Dillmeier Glass
Company, a fourth-generation family-owned company
serving the retail and store fixture industry since 1933.
Dillmeier joined the family business in 1998. His company, which provides tempered and non-tempered glass
fixtures, shelving, and components, has been a member
of A.R.E. since the early 1960s. Dillmeier has served on
A.R. E.’s Convention Committee.
