for PAVE 3D Design Challenge
A University of Cincinnati student, Yuan Zeng, captured top honors in
this year’s PAVE the Way 3D Design Challenge. The challenge was to
design a functional headphone fixture and include a 3D rendering of
the design for judging. As sponsor and presenter, Malden, Mass.-based Van Stry Design
worked with the students of the top 12 designs to produce prototypes, which were displayed April 16 to 18 at GlobalShop.
The top three winners, announced April 16 during A.R.E.’s Design Awards program
in Chicago, and receiving cash awards, are:
FIRST PLACE, $5,000—Yuan Zeng, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati
SECOND PLACE, $2,500—Jade Boyle, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Ky.
THIRD PLACE, $1,500—Oksana Pugajeva, University of Dundee, Dundee, United

2013 PAVE Gala returns

Nominate Industry Rising Stars
PAVE is seeking nominations for its seventh annual
Rising Star Award to recognize young retail talent.
Candidates include designers, visual merchandisers, store planners, and project
managers in the retail environments industry who are proven
visionaries, uniquely innovative,
respected among peers, and 40 years or younger.
Retailers, designers, and industry suppliers are
invited to nominate individuals for consideration.

A panel of industry professionals will review
nominations. Finalists will be recognized and the
winner named during the PAVE Gala, December 4,
