THE SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS
TROPHIES REFLECT some of the values
the competition encourages.
Category and special recognition winners receive
etched crystal on bases handcrafted from black walnut trees salvaged from British Columbia’s Fraser
Valley Basin. These awards are produced using 100
percent renewable energy by Eclipse Awards, which
has committed to a 20 percent reduction in its
carbon footprint by 2013 over 2007 levels.
In addition to sustainable attributes, the Project of the Year trophy has
a unique tie-in to the industry. It is a labor of love for Reclaim2Fame
artist Will Wagenaar, whose circuitous career path has included retailing
as owner of a reclamation art store in the Miami Design District, visual
merchandising for Marshall Field’s, a commercial interior design degree,
and mural and architectural finishing work.
When approached by A.R.E. to create a unique award for this program
several years ago, the Port Richey, Fla., artist eagerly adapted his quirky
“mannequin” sculpture style to accommodate
our recognition needs. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, created thoughtfully from salvaged household castoffs sourced from flea markets, yard
sales, and thrift stores, or “liberated” from gutters
Wagenaar’s artwork has been viewed in more
than 300 publications on five continents and is
available online at http://reclaim2fame.etsy.com.
