Retailers find inspiration at December
New York City showroom event.
Retailers from all over the world joined holiday crowds in New York last month, turning out in strong numbers for A.R.E.’s Retail Design
Collective, which took place December 7
to 9 at showrooms throughout the city.
With healthier attendance than ever,
the December market week provided an
encouraging preview for the year ahead.
Showrooms reported strong traffic and
buyer interest, as retailers sought new ideas
to entice shoppers to buy. Nearly every
major North American retail organization
sent buyers to the Collective, signaling a
strong return to retail visual merchandis-
ing and design investments. International
attendance was strong as well, with retail-
ers coming from Latin America, Europe,
VMSD magazine, and PAVE hosted panel
discussions on visual merchandising and
The PAVE Gala on opening night provided an elegant opportunity for retailers
and suppliers to network, dine, and celebrate outstanding visual and design students. And Material ConneXion, Pantone,
and Stylus preceded the event with a trends
symposium on December 6.
